Jupiter Aluminum Industries (JUPALCO), part of the Jupiter Group, placed an order for two additional Vortex furnaces for aluminum coil annealing from SECO/Warwick. The company was established in 2023, with the first three coil annealing systems supplied at that time.

“Two years ago, we chose three Vortex 2.0 systems, which at the time fully met our needs for aluminum heat treatment at JUPALCO,” said Sandeep Bajaj, CMD of JUPALCO. “Today, we are ordering another two systems. This is the result of our development and increased production volume. The Vortex 2.0 system combines ecology with economy. The efficient nozzle system makes production more efficient.”

The Indian market for flat rolled aluminum products is growing dynamically — with its value expected to increase from US$4.5 billion in 2025 to US$12 billion in 2035. More and more manufacturers, such as JUPALCO, are planning investments in new rolling mills to meet this growing demand.

The two new Vortex 2.0 furnaces are designed specifically for annealing aluminum coils in multi-zone chambers with a precise temperature control system for each zone. The system ensures excellent temperature uniformity (+/- 3°C) and eliminates the risk of local overheating of the coil surface, which directly translates into improved final product quality. The big size of the coils — with a maximum outside diameter of Ø2,600 mm, a maximum coil width of 2,300 mm, and a maximum total load gross weight (coil and spool) of 93.6 tonnes — in this project makes it a unique design in today’s industry, but is expected to become increasingly popular in the future.

Vortex 2.0 is a highly efficient system for annealing aluminum coils thanks to the use of patented air-stream technology. The design significantly shortens the process cycle, ensuring energy savings, increased efficiency, and improved surface quality. A key feature of the system is the increased heat transfer coefficient, achieved by directing high-speed air onto both sides of the coil. As a result, the air flows through the edges of the coil, not just its outer layer.

“Repeat orders are the best proof of recognition for the technology,” said Piotr Skarbiński, vice-president of the CAB and Aluminum Products Segment at the SECO/WARWICK Group. “Vortex 2.0 not only guarantees the highest quality aluminum processing but also provides time and energy savings — key factors in today’s metallurgical industry. In the latest, patented 2.0 version, Vortex systems, thanks to a system of appropriately directed nozzles, ensure higher production volumes with lower energy consumption.”
