EGA Spectro Alloys signed a major contract with Presezzi Extrusion for the supply of key scrap recycling equipment. This marks an important milestone in the company’s ongoing commitment to advanced aluminum processing technologies.

“Our partnership with Presezzi Extrusion will bring best-in-class technology to Spectro’s operations and strengthen our ability to deliver consistent, high-quality billet to our customers,” said Luke Palen, president of EGA Spectro Alloys.

EGA Spectro Alloys — 80% owned by Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) as of 2024 — is undertaking a further expansion of its aluminum recycling operations in Minnesota. The company completed a significant expansion in July 2025, which increased total production to 120 million pounds per year of recycled aluminum billets.

The new expansion project, announced in October 2025, will provide 90,000 tonnes of additional capacity, bringing total production capacity to around 200,000 tonnes per year of recycled billet. As part of this strategic expansion, Presezzi Extrusion will supply a new remelt furnace and a batch homogenizing system.

The 50 tonne remelt furnace will include a 15 tonne autonomous scrap charging machine, Presezzi’s patented L.E.C. stirrer, and an integrated SMART Camera system. The combination of these technologies will enhance metal quality, improve process stability, increase operational safety, and enable full digital monitoring of the melting process.

In addition, the project includes a new batch homogenizing system designed to treat and cool billets ranging from 7 inches to 14 inches in diameter. The system features fully automated handling equipment for loading, unloading, strapping, and packaging — all managed through Presezzi’s proprietary Data Manager System. This advanced solution will deliver state-of-the-art aluminum heat treatment, meeting the stringent metallurgical requirements specified by EGA.

Being selected as a technology partner for such a strategic project confirms Presezzi Extrusion’s expertise in melting and homogenizing technologies for aluminum billets, as well as the company’s ability to deliver innovative, reliable, and sustainable solutions for the global aluminum industry.

Construction of the new facilities is scheduled for completion in 2027.
