Matalco Inc. entered into an agreement with Gillespie & Powers Inc. for their supply of one 115,000 lb tilting melting furnace, one 115,000 lb tilting holding furnace, three 120,000 lb batch homogenizing ovens, and two 120,000 lb. batch coolers with charging car, and related equipment in support of Matalco’s business expansion in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. “We are excited about our new partnership with Gillespie & Powers Inc. for the complete furnace equipment installation and commissioning for our new Wisconsin Rapids plant,” said Robert Roscetti, vp, Corporate Development, Matalco Inc. “It represents a major step forward in the construction of Matalco’s new facility, which is on schedule for first production in 2020.”

In late 2018, Matalco had announced that Wisconsin Rapids would be the first of several greenfield aluminum remelt facilities that they planned to establish in the U.S. These greenfield casting facilities will support billet and rolling slab production and related processes and services. Moving quickly, Matalco’s first greenfield represents an $80 million investment to further strengthen and expand the company’s presence in the North American aluminum market. At full production capacity, the Wisconsin Rapids facility will employ 30 permanent full-time personnel with an annual production in excess of 230 million pounds of high-quality billet.

Gillespie & Powers is a 5th Generation family owned design, build, and supplier of specialized furnaces supporting the metals processing industry. They are located in St. Louis, MO. According to Ian Marsh, sales at Gillespie & Powers, “We are honored to be working with Matalco in the continued development of their business and look forward to working with them in the future.”
