Chiz Bros. Acquires Advanced Material Science to Expand Insulation Machining Services

Chiz Bros., a producer of custom solutions for refractory and high temperature applications, completed the acquisition of Advanced Material Science, a supplier of thermal and electrical insulation material.

“The acquisition of Advanced Material Science will help us expand our offerings in regard to induction insulation and utilize their quick turnaround and precise machine services,” said Mark Rhoa, Jr., vice president of Chiz Bros. “We are excited to welcome them into the Chiz Bros. family. We pride ourselves on supplying high quality materials and AMS certainly fits that mold.”

For more than 50 years, Chiz Bros. has been providing custom solutions for refractory applications in a wide range of industries, including metals, power, glass, and ceramics. The company has two locations, a warehouse in suburban Detroit, Michigan, and its original location near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, which are fully stocked to meet most customers’ needs for ceramic, soluble fiber, insulating firebrick, and other thermal products.

Located in southwestern Pennsylvania, Advanced Material Science has been a long-term vendor of Chiz Bros. The company manufactures and distributes thermal and electrical insulation material with an additional focus on custom CNC machining. The location of the manufacturing facility will remain unchanged, with plans by Chiz Bros. to invest in improvements to machinery, inventory, and safety practices.

With the purchase, John Pertinaci, who has been the plant manager of Advanced Material Science for more than seven years, will continue to remain on-site as plant manager. “Advanced Material Science has always enjoyed working with Chiz Bros. as a customer, and now we can take a step further and work together as one company,” said Pertinaci. “I look forward to this new relationship and the mutual benefits it will bring to the industry.”
