© by SACA

Secondary Aluminum Coalition for America (SACA) was recently formed to represent a unified voice of the U.S. secondary aluminum industry. Formed by Metal Exchange Corporation, Smelter Service Corporation, Schupan, Shapiro, Tower Extrusions, Western Extrusions Corporation, Tri-Arrows Aluminum, Inc., and Pennex, the new organization will advocate for the secondary aluminum industry as a driver of job growth and industrial capacity.

SACA represents operators across every link of the domestic supply chain — from scrap collection and sorting to remelting, casting, and extrusion. The organization represents organizations across the country, employing thousands of workers and producing the recycled aluminum that supplies U.S. manufacturers, infrastructure, and national defense supply chains.

SACA aims to secure the long-term future of America’s secondary aluminum supply chain. The organization plans to work with U.S. government bodies to advance policies that strengthen domestic capacity, support the American workers and communities that the reyclcing industry sustains, and ensure secondary aluminum has a seat at the table on the decisions that shape America’s industrial future.

In their announcement regarding the formation of SACA, the members stated:

Our members are middle market businesses operating facilities across 17 states, employing thousands of workers across every link of the U.S. secondary aluminum supply chain — united by a shared commitment to the longevity of the industry and closing the domestic supply gap.

We met with officials from the White House, the Department of Energy, the International Trade Administration, and [United States Trade Representative], as well as bipartisan members of Congress from Tennessee, Michigan, Missouri, Texas, Georgia, and Alabama. We were encouraged by the bipartisan recognition of the need to invest in secondary aluminum to help boost domestic capacity and meet demand.

The opportunity is here, the capacity is ready, and we are going to build it.
