Following the success of its two courses held last year, Innoval Technology has announced a new “Aluminium Automotive Sheet Training Course,” which will be held April 9-11, 2019 at the Innoval offices in Banbury, U.K.
The two and-a-half day course is specifically designed for companies new to making or using aluminum automotive sheet, helping delegates to develop a thorough understanding of this product from a materials perspective. It will increase participants’ knowledge of material behavior during both fabrication and in vehicle use. Attendees should leave the course with a new knowledge of how to improve processes and develop better products.
A visit to Jaguar Land Rover’s manufacturing facility in Solihull is included with the course. Jaguar Land Rover has a long history of using aluminum in its automotive spaceframes. The company recently introduced its first all-electric vehicle, the I-PACE, which features lightweight aluminum sheet in the body and battery frame.
The Aluminium Automotive Sheet Training Course was written and delivered by technical specialists with expertise in automotive sheet and will be two and a half days long. The following topics will be covered:
- Background to the use of aluminum in automotive applications
- Equipment needs and supply chain considerations
- Metallurgy basics and 5000-series alloys property control
- Surface control and lubrication
- Vehicle manufacture
- 6000-series alloys property control
- Surfaces and corrosion
- Testing requirements and OEM qualification
The Aluminium Automotive Sheet Training Course is aimed at senior managers and technical specialists involved in automotive manufacturing and supply chain.
