Tecalex Acquired by Bassfield SL

Tecalex Press

Sica2M, through its Spanish subsidiary, Bassfield SL, took over all the active and ongoing operations of extrusion press manufacturer Tecalex from the former owner Tecnología de la extrusion del Aluminio SL.

Operating as Tecalex-Bassfield SL from now on, the company will continue with its current activities, serving both existing and future projects. The merger is expected to enable the company to enhance their technical competences, provide better solutions, improve their equipment, and increase the offer and portfolio of products they are able to provide. It will also provide additional access to financing and external markets due to shared synergies.

“At the end, we remain focused in the aluminum extrusion market,” said David Piany, general manager of Tecalex. “We are aluminum extrusion equipment manufacturers, with the main objective of satisfying our customers.”

Tecalex was founded in 1965 as an extrusion die manufacturer in the Barcelona, Spain, area. Later the company began construction of hydraulic equipment and machines for extrusion systems, with the first Tecalex front-loading press being built in 1984. The company now produces a range of extrusion equipment, including press feeding, front-loading presses, quenching and air cooling systems, pullers, stretchers, profile handling, heat treatment, plant control and logistics systems, and auxiliary equipment. Since 1984, the company has supplied more than 90 complete extrusion plants.

Sica2M is a French multinational specializing in manufacturing storage and logistics solutions, industrial vision systems, Industry 4.0 processes, robot integrations, and big data analysis.

“We are eager to start this new phase,” said Piany. “We hope that the returns corresponding to the Tecalex [merger] to Sica2M will be equally distributed to our partners, both external and internal ones.”
