SEGAL Completes Revamp of Extrusion Press Hydraulics

Throughout 2018 and the start of 2019, SEGAL Ltd., a part of the SIAL Group, has been putting into operation new equipment and modernizing its existing extrusion line at its plant in Krasnoyarsk, Russia. The company’s aim is to bring the facility to the next stage of technical development.

In May 2019, the company successfully completed an upgrade of its P2500 MT extrusion line — with a a revamp of the hydraulic system carried out by Kautec Solutions in Banyoles, Spain (which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. The modernization of the hydraulics system reduced the press dead time from 48 to 19 seconds.

“We have continued to implement the modernization plan launched last year,” said Gennady Burunov, chief engineer of the SEGAL Casting-Extrusion Plant. “So, we continued to work on the 2500 tonne press, where a new exit line was previously installed. This year, the hydraulic drive was upgraded. Last year, the best commercial offer from the Spanish company Kautec was worked out, and in March we began to implement this project. At the moment, all work has been done, and the extrusion line is in good working condition.”

SEGAL is a leader in Russia for production of aluminum profiles for the architectural industry. The structure of the company includes casting, extrusion, and finishing operations, including painting, anodizing, and assembly of suspended facades, frameworks and other items made from aluminum profiles. It also operates an analytical laboratory and a packaging area. The plant’s production capacity is 32,000 tonnes of products a year.
