HAI Materials Korea, the joint venture between Hammerer Aluminum Industries (HAI) and LS Cable & System, officially opened its new extrusion facility in Gumi, South Korea. The new facility plans to manufacture high-strength aluminum components for electric vehicles for the Korean market.
“Both LS Cable & System and the HAI Group stand for innovation, quality and sustainable growth,” emphasized Rob van Gils, CEO of HAI, in his speech at the opening ceremony in Gumi. “With this strategic partnership, we are combining our strengths and technological expertise to jointly shape and further develop the market for extrusion products in the field of electromobility.”
The companies invested around €46 million in the new 13,800 sq m production facility, which features a fully automated 60 MN extrusion line. With this state-of-the-art facility, HAI Materials Korea will manufacture highly complex aluminum components for the South Korean market.
“The fact that the production plant for extremely sophisticated products could be ramped up in an impressively short time fills us with great pride,” noted van Gils, emphasizing the positive progress of the project and the potential of the strategic partnership. “This speed and quality are a strong indication of the performance of our team and our partners.”
