Looking Pretty, Music City: ALUMINUM USA to Present Industry Insights

© by ALUMINUM USA

The ALUMINUM USA 2023 show, which is taking place in Nashville, TN, on October 25-26, keeps looking better all the time, with the event organizers adding and confirming new and exciting events that will be held at the Music City Center. The show will host exhibitors from across North America and around the world (Figure 1), providing approximately 2,500 industry professionals with insights into aluminum smelting, casting, rolling, extrusion, finishing, and fabrication. Currently, 175 exhibitors are taking part in the show—with only a few spots still open.

Presentations

Both days of ALUMINUM USA will feature industry-focused and technical presentations and panel discussions on the theater stage at the back of the exhibition show floor (Figure 2). Insights will focus on innovation, economic drivers, and new technologies from transportation to packaging to sustainability. These conference presentations will be free to attend for all those present at the show.

On Day 1 (October 25) of the conference, CRU Group will kick off the event by hosting a panel discussion focused on the global state of aluminum, hopefully with some positive forecasts for the metal. The panel will be followed by presentations by the Aluminum Association and additional CRU panels.

When the exhibition hall closes at 5 pm on the first day, all registered exhibitors and attendees will be invited to a networking party at the Country Music Hall of Fame, which is within walking distance of the exhibition. The party will have live music, food, drinks, and a free tour of the museum. The County Music Hall of Fame honors the musicians, songwriters, and bands that have shaped country music’s story and should not be missed.

On Day 2 (October 26), a variety of educational presentations by organizations and companies will once again take place at the theater stage. A tentative list of presentations includes:

  • Aluminum Extruders Council (AEC) – The Power of the Hollow: Using Hollow Aluminum Extrusions to Meet Vehicle Engineering Challenges
  • Fives Group – The Use of Hydrogen to Tackle Carbon Emissions in the Aluminum Sector
  • Tecnar – Alulibs: Effortless Automated Molten Metal Sampling
  • PyroGenesis – Aluminum, the Green Metal of the Future
  • Stirweld – Friction Stir Welding: Advantages, Limitations, Applications, and Latest Innovations
  • DTE – Molten Metal Composition Analysis

In addition to the conference presentation on the show floor, the Aluminum Association will host its well-known Casthouse Safety Workshop on October 26-27 in a nearby conference room (outside the exhibition hall). This is a global benchmark in safety training for the molten aluminum environment. It provides detailed information on topics, such as molten metal safety, furnace charging, protective clothing and equipment (PPE), combustible dust, pit guarding, emergency response, incident investigation, along with general information about casting operations. The workshop will also provide an opportunity for industry personnel to network, share best practices, and work together in interactive sessions designed to foster knowledge transfer across all organizational levels toward further improving facility molten metal safety performance.
