Horizon Aluminium 2026 will take place May 12–15, 2026, at the Delta Saguenay in Québec, Canada, bringing together aluminum producers, processors, researchers, equipment suppliers, manufacturers, and other industry stakeholders for four days of activities in the heart of the Aluminum Valley.
Organized by the Aluminium Valley Society (SVA), the inaugural international congress is designed to showcase the industrial and technological expertise of the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region while strengthening connections between local, national, and international players across the aluminum value chain.
Located in the heart of Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, the Aluminium Valley® is recognized as a unique industrial ecosystem, bringing together more than 100 specialized companies, several applied research centers, and over 7,000 jobs in aluminum processing, manufacturing, and related services. The region benefits from access to reliable renewable hydroelectricity, an efficient logistics network, and a strong base of aluminum expertise, making it an attractive location for investment, technological development, and international collaboration.
“The objective of Horizon Aluminium 2026 is to shape innovation, to create space for exchange, and to develop the expertise that we have in the region,” said Lilianne Savard, executive director of the Aluminium Valley Society. She also noted that the event was created to connect the region’s local expertise with the global industry, while addressing key topics currently shaping the sector, including artificial intelligence, the circular economy, and market diversification.
The event will feature a trade show, networking opportunities, workshops, presentations, industrial tours, opportunities for B2B meetings, a welcome cocktail, and an Industry Recognition Gala. The majority of sessions will be conducted in French, though some presentations will be in English, and simultaneous translations may be available for select sessions. Since some sessions and workshops will have limited capacity, attendees are encouraged to register in advance for the activities they are interested in. An exhibition will be held May 13–14 and will include more than 65 booth spaces, providing companies with an opportunity to present their products, services, and technologies to a targeted audience of decision-makers, experts, and potential partners.
On May 14, there will be an optional morning of tours, including a visit to the University Research Centre on Aluminum (CURAL) and a tour of the Canmec headquarters. Canmec offers design services for the manufacturing of mechanical equipment and components, as well as for industrial construction. Some of the company’s projects include management of the construction of a billet plant for Rio Tinto; surface repair of metal elements and painting of the Quebec Bridge for Canadian National Railway Company; and design, manufacture, and installation of a flood spillway, water intake valves, winches, embedded parts, and superstructures at Muskrat Falls hydro for Andritz Hydro-Canada Inc.
Horizon Aluminium 2026 is expected to welcome more than 300 attendees, including several international delegations. Confirmed international visitors include representatives from France, Germany, Iceland, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States.
Through the event, SVA aims to cultivate business connections across the entire value chain, spark discussion on key industry challenges, and position the Aluminium Valley as a global center of excellence capable of contributing to the sustainable and competitive evolution of the aluminum industry.
