While at the the ALUMINUM USA trade show in Detroit, Michigan in November 2015, Light Metal Age had the opportunity to interview a number of notable members of the aluminum industry.
This first interview in the series conducted by Ann Marie Fellom, publisher, presents Dr. Anthony Tropeano, CEO of FATA Hunter and FATA EPC.In this conversation, he discusses his background in the aluminum industry and his role within the company. FATA Hunter provides all the process equipment for creating flat rolled aluminum, and FATA EPC puts together large turnkey project packages in industry. Recent FATA project innovations are described, such as a warm mill for magnesium that FATA patented called asymmetric rolling.
Also included is the latest news regarding the acquisition of FATA by the Danieli Group at the end of 2015, with the final closing of the sale expected at the end of the first quarter 2016. According to Tropeano regarding the sale, “In my view there are a lot of synergies between FATA and Danieli and in my opinion we complement and strengthen one another…”
The premiere ALUMINUM USA event was considered a success with good prospects for the future, with 172 exhibitors from 20 countries being present in addition to 920 visitors from the aluminum industry as well as the automotive, transport, building and packaging industries. Plans for ALUMINUM USA 2017 are underway, with final dates and location to be announced at a later time.
