Hammerer Acquires ‘Precision Profiles’ Manufacturer

Hammerer Aluminium Industries (HAI), headquartered in Ranshofen, Austria, is acquiring a 100% participating interest in the South German company, LEAN Extrusions GmbH, a precision profiles manufacturer headquartered in Singen. In 2015, LEAN Extrusions already produced high-gloss aluminium parts for HAI as a 50% joint venture partner. The newly acquired company will operate as HAI Lean Extrusions.

“We aim to develop the plant into a small and efficient specialist for precision profiles, high-gloss and decorative parts that we can ideally offer together with our products as a complete package to the automotive industry,” said Rob van Gils, CEO of the HAI Group. “The takeover was by mutual agreement with the former co-owners, Alumero. The strong focus on special products is a safeguard for the plant on Lake Constance.”

The international cost pressure is clearly noticeable in the aluminium processing industry. A small site, such as that in Singen, has the best development chances when it serves a special niche in the market. “With HAI Lean Extrusions, we are continuing to pursue our goal of developing and producing highly sophisticated products for top customers. By serving niches with the highest production and product quality, we can successfully find our growth markets even in the persistently challenging market environment,” explained van Gils. HAI Lean Extrusions will produce, among other things, lightweight decorative strips for the automotive sector.

HAI Lean Extrusions in Singen has roughly 25 employees. The structures and processes will be fully integrated into Hammerer Aluminium Industries.
