The European Aluminium Awards will be handed out on October 7th at the Award Gala during the ALUMINIUM 2014 international world trade fair, which will be held October 7-9 at Messe Düsseldorf in Germany. All winners and nominees will be on display in the Award Pavilion in Hall 13, the dazzling heart of innovation at this fair.
A record number of 83 entries from 11 countries were received from 61 companies with an innovative product or project that incorporates aluminum. Out of these entries, 37 have been nominated for awards in five categories — Design & Lifestyle, Lighting & Interior, Building & Architecture, Aerospace & Automotive, and Production Techniques, Tools, & Machinery. In addition, several special prizes will be up for grabs, including the Young Designers Prize, Young Engineers Prize, and Overall Jury Prize. A brand-new Public Prize will be awarded for the first time in the Design & Lifestyle category, with the winner chosen by open online voting.
Among the nominees are automotive parts from AMAG, Novelis, and Leiber Group and a sophisticated space part casting from Zollern. as well as new production processes and innovative architectural structures. The Design & Lifestyle category brings a wedding dress, an aluminum urn, and a decorated railway fly-over. From laser-welded automotive metal sheets to designer silverware , from stable bridge structures to side impact protection, from long-lasting urns to the shiny wedding dress of the future — the award submissions couldn’t be any more diverse. What they all have in common is that they integrate aluminum in a new, innovative way.
