Summary: Alunorf, the joint venture between Hydro and Novelis in Neuss, Germany, added a new remelt facility alongside its existing rolling mill in 2009. The new recycling center's first furnace order was for a LOI twin-chamber melting furnace along with ancillaries. An order for a second LOI twin-chamber furnace was made and is expected to be operational in 2011. Both furnaces supplied by LOI Thermprocess GmbH feature ancillary melt technologies from Pyrotek. The ancillaries, including two 6" EMP pump systems with a Low Turbulence Scrap Submergence (LOTUSS) vortex chargewell, are described within the article.
