Some intensive plastic deformation (IPD) techniques that involve nanotechnology have been evaluated at VILS JSC in relation to their integration into basic extrusion technology. These techniques promote development of a system of microshears accompanied by significant refining of the grain structure of light alloys, thereby achieving a physical basis for rather noticeable improvement in extrudability followed by a pronounced increase of the level of strength characteristics and quality of extruded products.
