LightMAT2013 Provides Insight on Aluminium, Magnesium, and Titanium The Euro LightMAT 2013 – Aluminium, Magnesium, Titanium Science and Technology conference, to be held September 3-5, 2013 in Bremen, Germany, addresses the three most important light metals, giving a broad overview of actual use in lightweight design, advanced modern transport systems, and structural applications. The conference provides a platform for academic and industrial researchers, scientists, and engineers to present and discuss the recent development and progress made in the scientific field of aluminum, magnesium, titanium, and their alloys. Chaired by Prof. Dr. Jürgen Hirsch, Hydro Aluminium (Aluminium), Prof. Dr. Karl Ulrich Kainer, Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht (Magnesium) and Prof. Dr. Christoph Leyens, Dresden University of Technology (Titanium), the conference provides a deep insight into the basics of each metal. It also includes specific product requirements and how they are met by each of these conventional lightweight materials, or by their combination in advanced multi-material design, including specific joining and corrosion issues. Sessions are organized in main applications, intended to provide optimum comparison and a broad overview of specific advances, problems and highlights, covering:
